Classes at Inner Focus Yoga
Hot and warm yoga, restorative and yin yoga, yoga for backs and therapeutic yoga, Reiki treatments and courses, Angle card readings.
Hot or not! The hot classes hold a temperature of 38-42% in temperature (so you will sweat) and the warm classes between 22-25 degrees (a little warmer than you would keep your home). The benefits of yoga are NOT dependant on the temperature of the room, rather the practice of yoga itself which holds the benefits. The hot or not is simply a personal preference.
Hot or normal room temperature: All Levels. This class is a great introduction to the fundamentals of yoga. Our skilled instructors will safely guide you through each posture (asana) focusing on proper alignment and breath work (pranayama). Recommended if you are new to yoga, or wishing to deepen your understanding of the postures.
Hot or warm room temperature: Some experience recommended. This style allows for a lot of variety, and usually includes Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations). This is a beautiful combination of stretching, movement, and breath work. The perfect way to get your energy flowing. Some experience is recommended as we tend to flow at a faster pace and there is an assumption that the student has an understanding of basic postures.
Hot or normal room temperature: All Levels. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues (bones, joints and ligaments) of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine, whereas Yang yoga is a dynamic style of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. This beautifully blended class was developed to increase flexibility and improve energy flow as it releases deep seated tensions in the body.
Normal room temperature: Rejuvenate your mind and body! Yin postures are a low energy and gentle approach to release tension seated deep within the body. The longer holds penetrate deep into connective tissue (bones, joints and ligaments) expanding flexibility and aiding healing while stimulating the nadis or meridians to loosen energetic blockages and increase energy flow. Often times meditative techniques will be introduced as an added touch in this journey to restore balance.
Please note: Yin Yoga is not restorative yoga. Like all yoga practices, if the tissues you are targeting for exercise are damaged in some way, please give yourself a chance to heal before resuming your regular practice. Our friendly teachers are always there to safely guide you so don’t be shy to ask for special attention.
Normal room temperature: All levels. While it is normal enough to have stresses be a part of life, holding stress in the body or mind for long periods of time can create an imbalance and show up in our lives in many ways (pain, endocrine disorders, premature aging, etc.). Restorative classes are a form of yoga that seeks to achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation in a serene environment. Yoga props (bolsters, straps, blocks, etc.) are used to ensure you are comfortably resting in each asana (posture).
Yoga for Backs
Normal room temperature: All Levels. Using the principles and specialized props developed for Critical Alignment Therapy, this class works to relieve strain and tension in the body by using long holds in therapeutic postures. Once tension has been released, we start to develop more effective movement patterns in the body. This class is beneficial for anyone working through injury, chronic pain or injuries. You will gain a greater sense of body awareness, a release of muscular tension, possible pain reduction, and an improved feeling of physical wellness.
Critical Alignment Therapeutic Yoga
Normal room temperature: All levels. Critical Alignment Therapeutic Yoga is intelligent sequencing and mindful movement”.
C.A.T. classes teach us to relax our body, build deep core strength, and find new ease of movement by integrating specific props, yoga related Asana (postures), and breath awareness, which will ultimately allow for release from tension and strain caused by stress and injury in our body’s large surface muscles. Once this tension begins to release in our body, subtle movement is integrated into the practice to activate the proper muscles to support a healthy alignment in our spine, ultimately leading to a life of optimal health and wellness.
Acroyoga classes are beginner friendly. All bodies and ages welcome, with many variations accessible to individuals of all levels. You don’t need to be flexible, you just need to have fun! Each week there will be a different focus with strength and flexibility drills, movement patterns, and games. Exploring in groups, we learn foundational alignment, counter-balances, transitions and flows that partner-acroyoga offers.
Acroyoga is a form of partner acrobatic-yoga, that also combines elements of massage into a unique physical trusting expression. Playful in nature, it develops balance, strength, flexibility, trust, communication and human connections.
